Holiday Slump

I must be in a bit of a holiday slump. Since teaching a few weeks ago, I have not felt like working on anything artsy. I haven't been in my studio in a several weeks. I need to get out of this funk.

In an attempt get rid of feeling blah, I put my mind to finishing up a postcard I started about a year ago. It will soon be jetting off in the mail to my first PIF recipient Grace. I used a button hole stitch around the flowers and embellished with several different fuzzy yarns and backed it with watercolor paper.

I also created an ATC, working this small is a challenge to keep a balanced design and still retain some detail. Something funny happened when I was finishing up this card, I some how managed to get wonder under applied to both sides of the paper backing. Rather than scrap and start over, I decided to use the paper. In order to cover up the mis-fused wonder under I fused a paper towel to it and tore off the excess. The result was a soft handmade paper look to the paper back. Not exactly what I had in mind but a nice result.

The second card is gorgeous. You well succeeded in your goal of balancing composition and detail.

I'd say that slump is history!

Oh... OH, how lucky am I? I say - funk be gone, these are wonderful!

I'll be posting the PIF on my blog this week - I hope there are some still out there that want to participate, it seems I've seen invites to PIF on every blog in the free world of late. So much fun!

Right now I'm having a giveaway of a peyote stitched bracelet, if you're interested - just throw your name in the hat via a comment.

'Tis the season ...
