Making stencils

I saw the first episode of Quilting Arts TV with Jane Dunnewold and how she created her own stencils using interfacing, tulle and latex paint. The process looked easy enough, so the small art quilt group I am in decided to give it a try.
Here are the two I made, I have yet to try them out.
And here are the other hanging to dry. I think I need to get better at the cutting so I can have both the positive and negative image for a stencil.

It was a fun process with a few technical problems. One tip is to make sure the interfacing is thoroughly fused together. If it is not, when applying the latex paint the two layers will peel apart.

More later when I give mine a try.

This looks very interesting Amy. I saw those DVD's too. I have now realised that what you call Latex paint is what we refer to over here as Household Emulsion.
Look forward to seeing the next stage.

This is a clever idea. Thank you for passing it on.
