New Books

My mom found me a special birthday gift, Inspirations for Embroidery by Constance Howard. Full of wonderful creative free form embroidery ideas.

I also picked up the Constance Howard Book of Stitches from Amazon. Full of pages of creative ways to use some basic stitches.

And one to feed my sweet tooth and addiction to coffee....

Ahhhh, Constance Howard. Those are wonderful books and she was a most interesting person. Did you know that her hair was green ... malachite green. She had decided in her earlier years that she would never be a gray haired old lady. And she most certainly wasn't. When I was walking with her (late 1970's in northern Wisconsin) a car full of punk kids drove past and one of them leaned out the window shouting, "Hey, lady, we like your hair!".

I have recently moved, and in the process have lost my copy of Inspirations for embroidery. Mine had a different picture on the cover but that picture was one I remember being inside, so think mine must have been an earlier edition. I am off to amazon

It is great to read of Constance Howard.
