Stoles, Capes and Shorties...

I recently had a great set of vintage 1950s magazines added to my stash along with numerous knitting needles and crochet hooks thanks to my fabulous mother-in-law.
I dabble in knitting and am currently working on a pair of fingerless gloves to keep my hands warm at the computer, quite 50s glam more like 60s hippie chic. The yummy wool yarn was hand spun by a fantastic local spinner.

Here are a few of the magazines I inherited. I love the glam of the 1950s. The sweaters look so chic. Copyright is dated 1956. When I first saw this magazine, I just had to know what was a shortie? Well it is a cropped or bolero type sweater.

Some how I don't think I would look this chic is a stole. But it still makes me want to make one.
Also included were a number of magazines for mens knits and babies.

Fun "finds". I have that same knitting for babies book. I especially liked the bonnet featured on the cover. Quite a few baby girls received that one as gifts waaaaay back when.
