Quilt Retreat

I spent last weekend in beautiful Medora, ND at the Badlands Quilt Guild Retreat. With a blizzard in the forecast for the weekend, my mom and I took a chance that the weather really would not be all that bad and went anyway. I took three days of classes with Laura Wasilowski. The only project I have a picture of so far is from the Tiny Homes and Gardens class. Laura's style is much more whimsical that what I usually work and much brighter colors. But I think it is always good to step out of the box a little and try something new.
After auditioning many houses, I settled on a whimsical prairie church with some funky trees. It is a rather small piece, I don't think it is quite 12"x12".

The Badlands Quilt Guild really puts on a fantastic retreat. This year the theme was The 1950s. Many gals get into the spirit of the theme and dress up which totally adds to the fun of the evening. they even had a hula hoop contest to give away one of the door prizes and I just could not resit giving it a try. It has been ages since I tried to hula hoop, who knew I could still do it. I obliterated the competition and won the door prize, 4 yards of batik fabric.
It was really a great weekend and I am already looking forward to next year.

Charming! Of course, you'd use a house of God.

Sounds like a wonderfully good time at the retreat.
