My mom creates the most unique porcelain faces and pendants you will find. If you have never worked with porcelain, it is smooth and lightweight and incredibly hard.
Not sure how to use or attach a ceramic face to your quilt or art doll?
This postcard was created by my mom using a medium size porcelain face surrounded by loops of wired beaded flowers. Tutorial in the works.
Here is the postcard I have been working on. The ceramic face is surrounded and held on the fabric by the lacy gold material. Can you guess what it is? Leave a comment by Monday morning July 21st and right or wrong, I will enter your name in a drawing for the finished postcard.

Liquid palamour (sp) clay. The faces are wonderful and both cards are so pretty and creative.
ReplyDeleteA gold colored glue like substance that comes in bottles and one squeezes it out in a pattern and then when dry it can be used several different ways. :O) Sorry I cannot remember the name of the product.

I think it is hot glue that is sprayed/painte with gold paint. It works well for your postcare

mt first though was solder (sp?)..you know, from a soldering iron. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhen I have done the polymer faces I have put wee hols in the sides to attch them. Many glue them on to flet, then stitch that on. I would still be worried about the glue failing though.
Like your idea, however you did it. It looks great.

Drizzled Plaster of Paris -- painted with gold -- and covered with a clear coat for sheen. ;)

ReplyDeleteI think it's a glue with the gold colour added, I think it would be very hard to paint. My friend who also looked at the photo thinks it's the kids crazy string that sprays out of a pressurized can. The effect is great.

gold lacy "fabric" is from glue....either a gold glue stick or a clear, covered with paint or pearl x
