Summer Sunflowers

I created Summer Sunflowers for the Renaissance Girl Challenge that Deb Silva posted on her blog a few months ago. The challenge was to incorporate all of ones passions into a single piece of art.
Summer Sunflowers incorporates the great variety of my fiber art interests. Primarily crazy quilting and collage. Other fiber passions include hand embroidery, free motion quilting and machine embroidery, beading and playing with novelty fibers in design. I also am intrigues with the combination of traditional and contemporary quilt design.
If you follow my blog, you know the previous post on this quilt showed an attempt at some quilting on the crazy quilt patches. I did not like the finished resulted and spent a few nights ripping it all out. I settled on leaving the quilting on the leaves and around the flowers and then quilting the border fabric. I have to say after the first disaster I am please with this result.
Small fun piece to create, every evening I keep adding a few more beads, who know when I will decided it has enough.
It turned out great Amy! I'm glad you stayed with it until you were happy - it was worth it.
