Thinking in 6x4
In making postcards for Fiberart for a Cause, I found I really liked working in a 6x4 inch format. It is small enough to tuck away and take with me when I travel, it is finished rather quickly (which is nice with taking care of Alex) and it is a great way to try out new ideas with out committing to a large piece.
I joined the flickr group, 6x4 lives, that challenges one to create a postcard each month. For my October postcard for the group, I stuck with the crazy quilt theme. With this one, I adapted an applique pattern from Ellie Sienkiewicz book The Best of Baltimore Beauties. (On my long list of quilts I would like to create is a contempoary Baltimore Album quilt that represents my family and my creativity) Anyway, back to the current piece, I did the crazy quilting in strips and I embelished all of the seams.

I love it! I am like you I have always wanted to do a Baltimore Album quilt. I have her books, but just haven't taken the time to do it yet.
