2014: A Look Back

A look at some of the creativity that I added to the world in 2014...........

1.  Created and donated My Baltimore Album Style to the 2014 Quilt Alliance Contest Inspired By and received an Honorable Mention

2. Created and donated The Old Barn to Preservation N and was inspired to keep working with the techniques used to make the quilt....

3.  Follow up barn quilt... Out to Pasture was created for me and won a blue ribbon at the 2014 Quiltfest show in Bismarck.  I look at this quilt every day and am still amazed that I made it and know there are more to come....

4.  I knit nearly everyday.

5. I self published 2 knitting patterns in 2014.

6.  I sold 180 patterns via various on line outlets including Craftsy, Ravelry and Etsy.

7.  I sewed Halloween costumes for my kids.  The Elsa dress was from a pattern,  Thor tunic and cape were completely from scratch.

8. Doodled ....

9.  Created some jewelry

 10.  Took a Nalbinding class...

11.  Knit up some Colorwork Ornaments to send to a publisher as my pattern is slated to be in a book in late 2015....

It was a great year,  and I am looking forward to all the creative challenges in 2015. 

Goals for the New Year

With the new year fast approaching I start thinking about what I want to accomplish for the year. But maybe I should take a peek at my list for 2007 and see what I got done, what I got started and what I just did even get to....

Make a bed quilt for us. We have a king size bed and I would like to make a double wedding ring quilt Most of the fabric for the quilt has been purchased just need to get down to cutting out and assembling. I guess this will be on my list for 2008.

Make Christmas or ornaments. I love hand made ornaments and every year around Christmas, I wish I had made a few to share with friends and family. I made exactly one ornament and it was for me. As much as I wish to do this I think it may be a bit too much to fit in with the other projects I had started for the year.

Enter a quilt in a show Completed. I entered a quilt in the Fargo Quilt Show and two quilts in the Bismarck Quiltfest. I also am waiting to hear on a entry for a local Artist and Gallery Association for a quilt show in January.

Finish the Spring inspired crazy quilt This quilt is well on its way but far from done. I should be ready to sew all of the blocks together soon and start working on some applique flowers I have planned for the border.

Keep up on the art2mail exchange Completed this one and even put my name down for another, I guest I like making postcards.

Participate in the Take a Stitch Tuesday with Sharon B I had such high hopes with participating in the TAST but my participation faded as I started to work on other projects.

All in all I feel pretty good about what I was able to complete. Looking ahead to 2008 I have held over a few goals from last year.....

• Make a king size quilt for our bed. (With most of the fabric purchased, I should be able to get to this in 2008)
• Finish the Spring Inspired Crazy Quilt

And a few new....

• Enter a few juried shows. I have found a few local, regional and national shows to shoot for and I have a work in progress that I think will be ready in the first part of 2008.


• Write a few articles for publication. I already have some lined up with CQmagOnline.com and Fibre & Stitch. I will keep you posted.


• Finish up at least one UFO. One sure does not sound like much in a year but considering I don't think I touched any in 2007, one in 2008 is a good goal. My thoughts at the moment are on a castle that I stared in a Barbara Olson Class....or the landscape I have not touched in a few months or maybe the 2 or 3 purses I have cut out ready to be sewn together....the list could go on and on.

Mid Year Resolution Update

It is now well past half way point through 2007, I thought it would be a good time to refresh my memory on what I hope to accomplish quilt wise for the year.

• Make a bed quilt for us. We have a king size bed and I would like to make a double wedding ring quilt in coffee inspired shades. On my recent trip to Portland OR, I purchased a few fat quarter packs of taupe fabrics in blue and pink shades. In the past year there have been several articles in Quilters Newsletter on taupe quilts and I just find the color scheme serene. These will be the rings and I still need to purchase a neutral background fabric. But at least I can get started cutting and sewing.



• Make Christmas ornaments. I love hand made ornaments and every year around Christmas, I wish I had made a few to share with friends and family. I think this is the next item in my resolutions I hope to tackle, I have made a list (checked it twice) to see how many I will need. Now to come up with a few ideas.... I am thinking a crazy quilt mini stocking.
  
  
• Enter a quilt in a show I have two small wall quilts that I plan on entering in the Bismarck Quiltfest this fall. I continue to work on the Double Wedding Ring that I am hand quilting. I have 5 blocks quilted out of 16 (progress is slow) if I want to finish it on time to enter in the show this fall, I will need to finish the remaining 11 blocks and the binding by the third week in October. This should be my priority.
  
  
• Finish the Spring inspired crazy quilt This quilt was in my previous post and all of the blocks are finished piecing. I have started some beading and planning of flower placement.


• Keep up on the art2mail exchange DONE.
  
• Participate in the Take a Stitch Tuesday with Sharon B I have all but stopped working on the stitch of the week, I am sure I will catch up when working on my crazy quilt and Christmas ornaments.

2007 Resolutions - Update

I haven't looked at this post for a few months......

• Make a bed quilt for us. We have a king size bed and I would like to make a double wedding ring quilt in coffee inspired shades. Haven't started a thing on this.
• Make Christmas or ornaments. I love hand made ornaments and every year around Christmas, I wish I had made a few to share with friends and family. I should get started on this one.
• Enter a quilt in a show I hope to finish hand quilting the 30s DWR in time for the October show. 16 blocks, 3 currently quilting, 6 months until the show, I will need to quilt at least 2 blocks a month to get finished in time.
• Finish the Spring inspired crazy quilt I have worked on this goal. Good Friday was a holiday, my husband was at work and Alex in day care, I had the whole day to myself to play. I finished one more border strip and started on the 4th. Then it will be on to the center squares, I have 2 out of the 9 done.
• Keep up on the art2mail exchange DONE.
• Participate in the Take a Stitch Tuesday with Sharon B I haven't done very well keeping up with the weekly stitches. Actually I just realized I have been working many of the stitches in beads, hmmmm something to continue with.

2007 Resolutions

I have always been a list person. At work, I have a daily "to do" list and I always seem to complete my list. And I know it is weird, I sometimes make a "to do" list for the weekend and yes, I get most of it done when I write it down. Must be something about writing a task down that makes me get it done, or maybe not forget about it. I decided this year I am going to make all art related resolutions and what better place to write them down and keep track of them all year than on my blog. So here goes...... listed in no particular order.....
